Forthcoming Publications
As the Scottish Parliament returns after the summer recess at the end of August, this edition of Forthcoming publications provides an overview of the Scottish Fiscal Commission’s publications over the coming months.
Fiscal Update – August 2026
We will be publishing our Fiscal Update on Tuesday 25 August at 9.30 AM. The Fiscal Update will contain our commentary on the Scottish Government’s latest fiscal position following the Scottish Parliamentary elections in May and the appointment of a new UK Prime Minister. We will also consider how the economic context has changed since our last forecast in January and we present our first forecast of Air Departure Tax, which is being introduced in April 2027. The Update is intended to set the scene for Parliament in the run-up to the Scottish Budget later this year.
Forecast Evaluation Report – August 2026 and Statement of Data Needs – August 2026
We will also be publishing our Forecast Evaluation Report and a Statement of Data Needs at the same time.
Scotland’s Economic and Fiscal Forecasts
Our next SEFF will be published at the same time as the Scottish Government’s Budget for 2027-28. The report will set out our five-year forecasts of the Scottish economy, tax receipts, social security expenditure and an overview of the Scottish Government’s fiscal position. The date of the Budget has yet to be agreed by the Deputy First Minister and the Scottish Parliament’s Finance and Public Administration Committee, but we are anticipating that it will be later this year.
