Tuesday 13 January 2026 – Scotland’s Economic and Fiscal Forecasts

These forecasts are part of the Commission’s main forecast publication series and will provide new economic, tax and social security forecasts to accompany the 2026-27 Scottish Budget and Spending Review. They will be published when the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government completes her statement to Parliament.

Wednesday 25 February 9:30 AM – Fiscal Sustainability Perspectives

On Wednesday 25 February we will publish a report highlighting the key fiscal challenges facing the next Scottish Parliament. This will draw together the pressures we have identified through our forecasts and longer-term work on fiscal sustainability.

11 December 2025 – Fiscal Sustainability Report: Error Correction Notice

We published on our website an Error Correction Notice in relation to Fiscal Sustainability Report published in April 2025. This notice explains the impact of two errors we have identified in our projections and sets out the actions we have taken to remedy this and reduce the chance of future errors. SFC Insights

Today we’re launching a new series of short SFC Insights that provide accessible commentaries on fiscal issues in Scotland. The series starts with three insights explaining the mechanics of the Scottish Budget ahead of the publication of the 2026-27 Budget next week. The first insight Understanding Scotland’s Budget: Scotland’s governments and areas of responsibility is available now and the second and third Insights will be published on Wednesday and Thursday on our new Insights web page.
