Professor Graeme Roy reappointed as Chair of the Scottish Fiscal Commission – 31 March 2026

The Scottish Fiscal Commission is pleased to announce the reappointment of Professor Graeme Roy as its Chair. Professor Roy will serve a second four year term, continuing his leadership of Scotland’s independent fiscal institution. The reappointment is for four years from 1 June 2026 until 31 May 2030.

Professor Roy was first appointed Chair in 2022. During his first term, he has overseen the Commission’s statutory role producing independent forecasts of Scotland’s economy, tax revenues and social security spending and the development of its work on fiscal sustainability.

Professor Roy’s reappointment ensures continuity in the Commission’s independent scrutiny of Scotland’s public finances.

Commenting Professor Roy said:

“I’m delighted to be reappointed as Chair of the Scottish Fiscal Commission. It has been a privilege to lead the organisation over the past four years, and I look forward to continuing our work in my second term.

The Commission plays an important role in supporting fiscal transparency and informed decision making in Scotland, and I’m pleased to have the opportunity to build on the strong foundations already in place.”
