April 2025 – Fiscal Sustainability Report (date to be confirmed)
Our second report on the long-term fiscal sustainability of the Scottish Government’s budget. This report will present include updated projections of funding and spending and will include a focus on health.
Late May 2025 – Scotland’s Economic and Fiscal Forecasts (date to be confirmed)
The Cabinet Secretary has written to the Finance and Public Administration Committee saying that she intends to publish the Scottish Government’s Medium Term Financial Strategy in late May. Our next set of five year forecasts will be published at the same time and are part of the Commission’s main forecast publication series. They will provide new economic, tax and social security forecasts as well as our fiscal overview.
Spring 2025 – Scottish Fiscal Commission Corporate Plan 2025-2029
Our third corporate plan will set out our strategic objectives for the period 2025-29.

The OECD’s assessment of our performance against international standards and the challenges and future opportunities for us to enhance our work and impact.
Recent Publication
Additional SFC report on Mitigating the two-child limit and the Scottish budget
The Scottish Fiscal Commission published on 7 January 2025 an additional report on “Mitigating the two-child limit and the Scottish budget – January 2025”. This policy was announced by the Scottish Government in its Budget in December, but was not included in the Commission’s forecasts published at the time. The Scottish Government plans to implement the policy in 2026. The Commission has assumed mitigation will be paid from April 2026.
Recent Parliamentary Event
Evidence was recently given on Wednesday, 29 January 2025 by Claire Murdoch, Head of Fiscal Sustainability and Public Funding, to Westminster’s Scottish Affairs Committee on the financing of the Scottish budget (the link includes the recording of the evidence session).
