Public Webinar Fiscal Sustainability Report – April 2025
Date: 23 April 2025 10.00 – 11.00 am
Venue: Online Microsoft Teams
Our second report on the long-term fiscal sustainability of the Scottish Government’s budget has a focus on health spending. It will provide updated projections of all devolved spending and funding up to 2074-75. We consider how the projected changes in both the size and the age structure of the population will affect economic growth as well as the Scottish Government’s spending and funding. This allows us to evaluate how sustainable current tax and spending policies are based on a changing population. We also discuss trends in spending on health, social care and disability payments. We then show how different scenarios of Scottish population health could affect the public finances.
